Newcastle Jets owner, Nathan Tinkler wants to close the club and
give back his license to the A-League, however, the FFA will not accept it. In
an interview with the FFA Chief, it is clear that he is standing firm on the
Jets license. He stated that Nathan Tinkler had a long period of time to pay
off his 3.5 million payments, however, due to over investing in their players,
administration, and coaching staff, they were face to face with a financial
loss. The FFA withheld their quarterly grant for this reason and believes that
they had reasonable time to pay their payments according to their contract. In
my opinion, if one has a business contract, they must uphold the agreements. I
do agree that this should be handled lawfully in the courts. It is not fair for
the players to be ripped of their jobs because their manager did not uphold his
end of the agreements.
